Common constipation, according to recent studies, affects 30% of the world?s population on a daily basis. Lack of exercise can lead to constipation, although doctors do not know precisely why. Recent stats have proved that people who lead sedentary lives are more easily prone to constipation that those who are active.

Cure to constiption depends on the cause, severity, and duration, in most cases dietary and lifestyle changes will help relieve symptoms of constipation and help prevent it.

Dietary changes – such as increasing the amount of fibre (which is also known as bulk forming laxatives) in the daily diet. Foods that have special recognition as laxatives include almonds, apricots (dried), avocados, chicory, coconut, dandelion (yes get out in your garden and eat those dandelion leaves, so long as they have no chemicals on them.

In some cases however, some individuals may find it hard to cope with the bulk of fruits needed. When this occurs, it is best that fiber supplements such as wheat bran, oat bran, psyllium seeds be added to the daily diet.

Drinking eight to twelve glasses of water or juice a day will lubricate the insides of your intestines so that stools can move along more easily.

Physical activity nudges the bowels into action, regular exercise such as walking or swimming everyday can help to both prevent and relieve constipation.

Laxatives are a type of medicine that help you to pass stools. They are clinically proven to provide effective relief from constipation. But for most people who are mildly constipated do not need laxatives.

Getting up and walking around the block in the morning is good enough to get your bowels moving. Developing a good diet habit will pay a large contribution to prevent and eliminate constipation.
